About Walter Streeter
I’m a born again, Bible believing Christian and a faithful husband. By trade I’m a network engineer. My passions include Bible study, music (I play bass guitar at my church), caring for my wife Peggy and our two kitties, Sissy and PG (Pretty Girl), and working with networks and other technologies of all sorts.
I’ve worked in the network industry for many years. My focus, specialty and passion is routing, switching and security but I don’t shy away from any type of technology. I’ve attained Cisco CCNP R/S and CCDA certifications and have also recently started studying and working to attain broadcast television related certifications, the first of which I attained this year as a Certified Television Operator from the Society of Broadcast Engineers.
So, why Write Erase?
To the uninitiated and non-technical, “write erase” is the command syntax used to clear the configuration of many types of Cisco network devices such as routers and switches. Doing this provides a clean start on the device. Having moved to a new hosting platform I felt it was also time for a clean start to my personal website and I didn’t think there was a much better way for a networker like myself to do that than with a good, old-fashioned, “write erase.”
As I contemplated the thought of a “write erase” on my personal website, I realized that life overflows with “write erase” opportunities. Every day provides an abundance of new personal, spiritual and professional opportunities. And this reminds me that each day provides an opportunity to experience the Lord’s faithful mercies afresh as declared in Lametations 3:22-23!
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
And so, I start my personal website anew, naming it “write erase” as a reminder to myself and others of the fresh opportunities presented to each of us every day. As we move ever further from the Unix Epoch, or for non-techies, as time passes, I plan to write about the experiences surrounding some of my personal, spiritual, technical and professional opportunities in the hope of encouraging, sharing knowledge with, and learning from others.
